Hey Everyone! Kicking off a new Blog πŸ˜Ž

I’ve been meaning to get this started for a while now, so here goes. My name’s Daniel πŸ‘‹, scuba and ocean enthusiast. I grew up near the beach in Southern California, and have had a lifelong passion for all things marine-oriented. I spent many hours of my youth swimming and snorkeling in the Pacific, enjoying the kelp forests and seal lions that make their residences along the coastal areas of San Diego. I was one of the weird types of kids that didn’t mind getting a little tangled up in the seaweed when I hovered over top!

It wasn’t until I was in my early 30’s however that I got my Open Water Diver certification and decided that exploring the deep was a hobby that was going to stick. Soon after that, I earned my Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications, and most recently my Dive Master down in beautiful Cozumel (one of my projects over the pandemic).

Here’s one of my favorite shots from recently after my OW cert. I was on a cruise ship contract down in Australia and was lucky enough to get to hop on a diving excursion to the Great Barrier Reef. Posing with me here is the friendly resident Maori Wrasse…and yes, it’s as large as it looks! More on the GBR later…

And speaking of cruise ships, this type of work has in fact made up the bulk of my career over the past several years. I perform as a pianist and singer on board several of the larger cruise lines including Disney, Norwegian, & Oceania. With the travel that goes along with this unique lifestyle, I’ve been fortunate enough to have access to diving opportunities and sites I wouldn’t normally get to see.

My plan for this blog is to share my diving and traveling experiences with others who might be looking to venture off to some of the same locations I’ve visited, as well as grab some helpful information on the preferred companies to go with, where to stay, where to enjoy the time between and after dives, and the best times of the year to go. Here’s also hoping to make some fun connections and possibly meet some new dive mates πŸ‘Œ 🀿
